Martial Arts Weapons for Ninja – The Six-and-a-half Foot Six Foot Bo

Recently, several dojo members and myself received The Buki Company’s (6.5 foot) “Rokushakubo.”  It has been very well received.  Two of us are 6’5″ tall so we appreciate it especially.  I always felt I the ‘regular’ rokushakubo didn’t quite have the right length for me.  I got to use the Buki bo at a seminar last year.  I loved the extra length and it was heavy, a real beast.  Because of its length, it is cost prohibitive to have just one shipped.  Fortunately, a dojo member was looking for some training tools and I convinced him to do an order from Buki and we’d all get one.

Couldn’t be happier.  At first, I though it was a bit light since the one I had used before was so heavy.  I’ve come to really love it.  The extra six inches in length make a surprising difference in feel and reach.  The standard red oak bo at the studio where we train are a real let down.  Their heavy lacquered finish is very uncomfortable and difficult to slide my hands over.

Hope this helps.  If you can get an order together to divide up the shipping cost, it will be well worth it.
